LM Products, Inc. was incorporated in April of 1988. What started as a hobby of making leather belts for friends and family has now become the leading company in guitar strap and other music instrument accessory manufacturing in the United States and abroad.

Founder, Larry Mechem, Sr. made his start as a working jazz musician playing trumpet and piano. He soon after the birth of his first child, L.J. Mechem, started working in a retail music store. His strengths in sales soon gave him the opportunity to purchase the retail music store in 1966. In 1975 after finishing his degree in accounting at Ball State University, L.J. Mechem took over the operations of the retail operation. This allowed Larry Sr. to further his desire to take a hobby and possibly make it a new career. After over twenty years of retailing and that desire to grow his hobby of leather strap manufacturing came true and LM Products, Inc. was born. At that time in 1988 L.J. Mechem purchased half interest in the retail operation and Larry Mechem Sr. pursued the leather operation fulltime. Moderate but steady growth continued for LM Products from it's incorporation in 1988 to 1996. In 1996 L.J. Mechem who started working at the retail store when he was 12 yrs old turned over retail operations to the employess and took over operations of LM Products, Inc. During that period of time LM Products continued substantial growth from a small employee base of 10 employess to it's now base of over 30 employees. LM has distributors in almost every major market in the world and has become a leader in the music industry.
